Legendary Heavyweight Mike Tyson is a boxing savant who always dreamt of someday representing his country in the Summer Olympics. During his humble beginnings, he struggled to find his calling in life until legendary boxing coach Cus D'Amato took him under his wing. Although there were several attempts for Mike to become an Olympian, he lost the chance he had to attend the event on June 11, 1984. The Olympic Boxing Trials in Fort Worth, Texas was the place where Tyson lost against Henry Tilman. Tyson lost that fight by decision and he has always talked about how much he wished to be part of those Olympic gams celebrated in Los Angeles.

Mike Tyson did win two Junior Olympic Games

Before the 1084 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Mike Tyson competed for the 1981 and 1982 Junior Olympics and won two gold medals. These triumphs were back-to-back and everybody expected him to make it to the 1984 games. His loss in Forth Worth remains as one of the most shocking defeats of his professional career. With that frustration in mind, Mike Tyson expressed how thrilled he is to watch the new blood compete in the boxing Olympic Games. Tyson will be more than ready to watch his compatriots compete and see if we will get to know a new potential champion from any of the divisions that will compete.

The Team USA Olympic Boxing team has up-and-coming young stars like Joshua Edwards, Jajaira Gonzalez, Jahmal Harvey, Roscoe Hill, Omari Jones, Jenniefr Lozano, Morelle McCane, and Alyssa Mendoza across all weight classes. Saturday, July 27 is the kick-off date for the event and all boxing matches. Tyson will vicariously live through all of these young boxers and try to enjoy any of the potential medals they might win. On Twitter, he wrote the following message: "Looking forward to watching TeamUSA Boxing compete and bring home the gold."
