Tyson appeared on the "ImPaulsive" podcast

In a rare instance of "fraternizing with the enemy", Mike Tyson made a surprise appearance on Logan Paul's podcast "ImPaulsive" on Tuesday. Logan -- the older brother of Jake Paul -- spoke with Tyson for nearly 45 minutes in a largely good-natured conversation -- although there were warnings here and there for former heavyweight champion Tyson.
As the clock counts down to Tyson's fight with Jake Paul inside Arlington's AT&T Stadium on Nov. 15, anticipation is growing for a bout that will feature a 31-year age gap between Iron Mike and the "Problem Child" -- who is coming off a dominant win over bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry last month. In one of the more ominous moments on the podcast, Logan revealed personal details about his brother that should send shivers down the spines of boxing fans entering the Netflix-sponsored fight.
Logan is 'very nervous' for Iron Mike
Logan told Tyson that Jake "wanted to be a Navy SEAL" and "kill people on behalf of his country" when he was in high school, well before he began to seriously pursue a career in the ring. A stone-faced Tyson appeared to listen intently and responded when Logan implied that Tyson was thinking of Jake as a gimmick and not as a professional boxer.
"I take him extremely serious," Tyson said. "These people (fans and analysts) don't take him serious."
Tyson's past -- including a three-year incarceration following a 1992 rape conviction -- has hardened him and taught him to accept that anyone, at any time, can end his life. It seems that this is the mentality Iron Mike will be taking into November's fight, in which Jake Paul has boasted that he will be taking home $40 million.
"This is what I've learned through my 58 years of experience: anyone is capable of killing you," Tyson said. "In my life and the way I've lived my life...You should be apprehensive for anyone."
Tyson's recent health scare -- an ulcer flare-up that saw this highly-anticipated bout pushed back into November -- has perhaps added more of a serene element to his already-guarded and "fearful" nature. If he is truly taking Jake Paul seriously, then November's fight in the heart of Texas could be a classic rather than a cash-grab.
