YouTube boxing sensation Jake Paul is intensively preparing for his highly anticipated match against former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, scheduled for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
As the fight approaches, the 27-year-old influencer shared a glimpse of his rigorous training on Instagram, posting a clip of himself sparring with what appeared to be a heavyweight training partner.
The bout has quickly gained traction among boxing fans, and Paul's training video attracted considerable attention online. However, reactions varied, particularly from Mike Tyson's son, Amir Tyson, and Paul's girlfriend, Jutta Leerdam.
On October 5, Paul posted the sparring clip with the caption "41 days," highlighting the countdown to his face-off with 'Iron' Mike. This matchup will consist of 10 two-minute rounds and will be broadcast live on Netflix. Initially slated for July, the fight was postponed due to Tyson's ulcer flare-up during a flight. In the meantime, Paul stepped in the ring with Mike Perry, achieving a sixth-round stoppage victory after knocking Perry down three times.
Despite Paul's impressive performance against Perry, many fans doubt his ability to take down Tyson.
Leerdam's supportive comment on Paul's post, "Let's go, baby," seemed overshadowed by a barrage of skeptical warnings from fans about his upcoming challenge.
Fan reactions to Paul's training video
The training clip quickly drew various comments from viewers. While Leerdam cheered for Paul, one user retorted, "Your baby will go to sleep," suggesting an early end to the fight.
Amir Tyson also reacted, sharing several laughing emojis to express his amusement at Paul's efforts in the ring.
Fellow boxer Juan Antonio Velazquez joined in the commentary.
"Bro sparring my drunk uncle," Velazquez joked, further highlighting the skepticism surrounding Paul's boxing skills.
Although Paul has achieved relative success, much of it has come against UFC fighters and lesser-known opponents, raising eyebrows among boxing purists.
One social media user mockingly remarked.
"Jake gets to meet Mike Tyson and [Muhammad] Ali in 1 night. Lucky guy," he posted, indicating the dangers of facing such a legendary fighter. Another chimed in with a warning:
"Jake Paul gonna get slept fighting like this."
As the fight date approaches, the pressure is mounting for Paul to prove his critics wrong and make a lasting impact in the boxing world. Whether he can withstand the challenges posed by a seasoned fighter like Tyson will soon be revealed on fight night.
