Millie Bobby Brown may be one of the biggest stars in the business, but there was a time she was considering quitting altogether.

The Stranger Things star opened up about her moment of doubt in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon back in 2020.

Acting is a relentless game, and if you're going to tread the boards or make it to the big screen there is going to be a whole lot of rejection on the way.

But despite trying to take it on the chin as much as possible, it's understandable that sometimes the rejection might be just a bit too much to handle, and some can throw in the towel.

Fortunately, Brown did not give up and has now gone on to be extremely successful, despite the rejections.

However, there was one role in particular which Brown lost out on which almost made her think that she should leave acting.

This was an audition for a part in HBO series Game of Thrones in one of the later seasons.

She recalled: “I think I was just very disheartened by the rejection which is something that I tell everyone, is like, ‘this industry is such full of rejection 24/7'.

“You get no's – a lot of no's – before you get a yes."

Brown auditioned for the role of Lyanna Mormont in the series.

She said: “I was auditioning for commercials, for anything really, I then auditioned for Game of Thrones and I got a no for that and then that's when I was kinda like ‘Oh, this is really difficult.'

“So, I guess I really wanted that role.”

Fans may recall Lyanna as the fiery and indomitable lady of Bear Island, who sends what men she has to fight alongside the Starks.

The character goes down in a blaze of glory, taking down no less than an undead giant by stabbing it in the eye with a dragonglass dagger.

I'd say spoilers, but come on, it's been long enough now.

The part was played by Bella Ramsey, who went on to star in The Last of Us alongside fellow Game of Thrones alumnus Pedro Pascal.

But of course things all worked out well in the end when Brown got a callback for a Netflix show called Mauntauk.

The show would later be renamed to Stranger Things, with Brown landing the role of Eleven.

Since then Brown's performance has propelled her career forward, earning her two nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards.

She has since had roles in big blockbuster films, including two Godzilla films.
