George Pickens is on the Cowboys now. You'd think that'd be enough of a reason for everyone in Pittsburgh to move on with their lives – especially considering there isn't football for, like, four more months – but that's of course not how it works.
Instead, we're going to spend the next week talking about what could have been, why it never was going to work, and why the Steelers obviously fleeced the Cowboys in a way that'll definitely affect the season next year. This next week is what sports radio host dreams are made of. The ability to talk trash about a player who didn't pan out? You only get that chance, what, once a year? Gotta capitalize. And, if you can belive it, that's exactly what Pittsburgh sports radio is doing. While talking with local station 93.7 The Fan, CBS Sports NFL reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala had some extremely predictable things to say about Pickens and his time in Pittsburgh.
The reports coming out of Pittsburgh about George Pickens are, uh, not great
"In all my games of being a sideline reporter I have never seen a player get so much attention from his teammates during a game," she said. "Be it attention to calm him down, to keep his head in the game, to have him focus, to have him centered. Whatever it is, it is constant ... It's just a distraction to the cause at large when you're constantly having to appease or attend to a player who's arguably your most talented player. So what is it like watching him play? Maddening. He's literally one of the most talented wide receivers in the National Football League."
[Deep sigh] I can't decide what's more over the top: how many times Pickens' behavior is mentioned, or how many times Kinkhabwala reminds everyone that she talks to GMs. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this interview was almost more about Kinkhabwala than Pickens.
So now you know: Pickens didn't work out with the Steelers because he had a bad attitude. Make sure to tune into 93.7 The Fan next week when they call Pennsylvania's foremost expert on water to have a groundbreaking and exclusive discussion about it being wet.
