The profile of the Kelce family has sky rocketed in the last five years. That rise started on the football field with Jason and Travis Kelce.
Both became franchise centerpieces for their teams with Jason anchoring the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line and Travis developing into Patrick Mahomes' No. 1 target on the Kansas City Chiefs.
The brothers are both likely bound for the Pro Football Hall of Fame given their illustrious careers. In fact the two have been so successful that they helped their teams meet two years ago in Super Bowl LVII.
Travis bested Jason in that matchup. However, that was the beginning of the family's meteoric rise in the public eye. Nothing about the two changed much but they certainly became household names.
That mean their mother, Donna Kelce became a public figure herself. Between sitting with celebrities in the press box or appearing on a number of commercials, she has quickly become a celebrity for a niche audience.
But such attention has its downsides as Donna reminded recently. She let her thousands of fans know that someone was impersonating her on Facebook with a post on Monday.
"There is a post with my name on it and it’s not me," Donna Kelce wrote. "Just wanted to let everybody know to go out there and unfriend this person. She’s pretending to be me and it has a profile picture of me with my finger up to my lips, and a picture of me and my brother and sister-in-law. I have reported her and hopefully Facebook will take this down immediately."
Such developments are unsettling yet a common occurrence in an unchecked social media-driven world. Unfortunately, Donna learned that in a brutal way.
And while the Kelce brothers have become major stars in the NFL sphere, they and especially their family members are simply normal people who are not clamoring for attention. Instead, they would prefer their privacy.
Travis is hoping to enjoy some time away from the spotlight himself. After announcing he would return for one more season, he and his girlfriend, pop music icon Taylor Swift, have spent some time out of the public eye.
Regardless, that relationship and the entire celebrity of the Kelce family will continuously grab the attention of fans. Hopefully in the future that attention comes in a safe and comforting manner.
