Nakobe Dean Over Devin White? Eagles Lay Groundwork for LB Changes

The Philadelphia Eagles had spent most of training camp with former All-Pro linebacker Devin White and Zack Baun starting at linebacker for their new-look defense.

In the span of two weeks, though, the Eagles have seemingly changed that up.

With White out of Friday's contest with a foot injury, the Eagles are comfortable and prepared to start the likes of Nakobe Dean and Baun as the team's linebacking core against the Green Bay Packers.

White didn't even make the trip to Brazil.

With Dean essentially and seemingly replacing White, the question now becomes if the Eagles even expect to have the former Buccaneer linebacker on the roster for the remainder of the season.

Dean has certainly earned the role. According to several reporters at practice, the third-year linebacker has been the best player at his position throughout the last few weeks. That seemed clear after a strong preseason showing as well against the Baltimore Ravens and joint practice work with the New England Patriots.

As the Eagles get set for their Week 1 battle against the Packers, they know the linebacker room continues to be their weakest link.

It could change drastically, though, if Philadelphia can figure out what they have in the Georgia linebacker - especially if he's able to beat out a veteran like White.
