NBA insider crushes crazy Mavericks rumor about superstar signing with Dallas

On Thursday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, and they will now move on to the NBA Finals to face the Boston Celtics.

LA Lakers' LeBron James Trade to Dallas Mavericks? Pros & Cons - Athlon Sports

Although the Western Conference Finals only went five games, this series was extremely intense, and now the Mavs are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011.

With most of the buzz surrounding the Mavs being related to their deep playoff run, there has been some talk about a wild rumor that Stephen A. Smith reported last month.

Brian Windhorst crushes LeBron James to Dallas rumor

Smith said the Mavs are a team that may try to draft Bronny James in an effort to try to lure LeBron James to Dallas, but that rumor may officially be crushed after a recent exclusive interview I had with ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Windhorst said he thinks LeBron is "probably" going to re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, and later ruled out the possibility of LeBron coming to Dallas. Windhorst talked about how he thinks James "loves" Luka Doncic, and how LeBron at one point wanted to "make a partnership with Luka" as he wanted Doncic to wear his shoes, but he decided to sign with Jordan.

Windhorst also talked about how he thinks Doncic has his duo partner in Kyrie Irving and thinks they "shouldn't touch anything" as they are playing extremely well right now.

Landing LeBron would be tough for Dallas, especially since it would have to be done through a sign and trade, but it's definitely not impossible. Windhorst talked about how he's learned to "never rule anything out" with LeBron, and maybe one day he'll try to team up with Doncic and Irving.

Irving tried to recruit LeBron to the Mavs last summer, and I can imagine he'd still like to play with his former superstar teammate. Windhorst was right by saying that the Mavs are set up with Doncic and Irving at the helm, and adding LeBron to this core may not be the right move considering that they are now in the NBA Finals.

For all the latest on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks throughout the 2024 NBA Finals, stay tuned.
