NBA legend Dominique Wilkins: Los Angeles Lakers no longer LeBron James’ team

An NBA legend doesn’t believe the Los Angeles Lakers are LeBron James’ team anymore.

Lakers' LeBron James Rips Into Question About 'Face of NBA' Drama

In an interview with ESports Insider, Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins believes the keys to the franchise have been handed over to Luka Doncic.

“It’s definitely Luka’s team,” Wilkins said. “A 25-year-old guy compared to a guy who is 40. You should be willing to hand over those ranks to him. I don’t think that’s even a question. I think that’s what the plan is.”

The Lakers shocked the basketball world when they traded for Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. Los Angeles landed a generational superstar to lead the team into the future.

In 28 games with the Lakers, Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game.

Despite landing the five-time All-Star, the Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games in the first round of the playoffs.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks predicts the Lakers will sign Doncic to a three-year, $165 million extension with a player option for the 2028-29 season.
