Last season for New England, Peppers had 78 tackles in 15 games played. He had one sack and two interceptions, along with 5.5 tackles for loss. He was playing on a two-year deal for $9 million, but now, he receives a much bigger payday.

In two seasons for the Patriots, Peppers has posted 138 tackles and played in all but two games. The team is opting to keep him on through the 2027 season.

Peppers ready for Year 8 in NFL

In 2021 with the Giants, the former Michigan star only played in six games, amassing 29 tackles, 1.0 sack and one pass deflection on the season. He tore his ACL but proved to be a valuable contributor, leading to the Patriots picking him up for 2022.

Peppers was the 17th pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, taken by the Cleveland Browns out of Michigan. With the Wolverines, he racked up several awards at linebacker and as a return specialist.

In his final year at Michigan, he was a unanimous All-American, recipient of the Lott trophy and Paul Hornung Award, Big Ten player of the year, and linebacker of the year. He left Michigan with 125 tackles, 18.5 for a loss, one forced fumble, and an interception. He also had three rushing touchdowns on offense and one punt return for a touchdown.

With Cleveland, Peppers had two productive seasons. He officially moved to strong safety in his second year there. But in 2019, he was a part of the blockbuster trade that sent Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland. The Browns packaged him, guard Kevin Zeitler, a first and third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Peppers’ rookie contract was worth $10.3 million. The Giants picked up his fifth-year option before ultimately letting him walk in free agency to New England.

In his first seven seasons in the league, the former Wolverine has 470 tackles in 93 regular season games played. He also has 5.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, six interceptions and 27 tackles for loss.
