Leading up to Super Bowl LIX, Jameis Winston asked Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley a very important question.
"I'm a free agent. I really don't have a job. Who should sign me in free agency," Winston asked.
And Barkley's reply showed that he still has love for his former team.
"I think New York needs a quarterback right now," Barkley responded.
"I'll give them a call," Winston replied back.
It seems Winston listened to Barkley's advice.
On Friday, the quarterback signed a two-year, $8 million deal that could be up to $16 million with incentives with the Giants.
And he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirming the news.
"Start spreading the neWs," Winston posted.
It was clearly very good advice from Barkley, and it's amazing to see how it all worked out.
The Giants Aren't Done Making Moves at the Quarterback Position
While the Giants have signed Winston, they are still interested in another free agent.
New York has been clear in their pursuit of former New York Jets and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and this signing doesn't mean that they are closing that door.
They are still interested, but they needed to bring in someone else considering that Tommy DeVito was the only quarterback they had on the roster.
Plus, Rodgers visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the same day the Giants signed Winston.
So, the Giants are still expected to add one more person into the room, whether that's Rodgers or they look towards the draft.
