It looks like the chance to play for Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions just might be worth more than money.
At least it seems that was the case for one of the team's newest signings.
The Lions haven't done much this offseason in terms of adding outside talent.
They have only brought in three new players since the start of free agency.
One of those players was former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Grant Stuard and it turns out he may have left some money on the table to be a part of the Lions' organization.
According to The Detroit News' Nolan Bianchi, Stuard said that he had offers from other teams with more guarantees, but chose to join the Lions anyway.
Stuard spent the last three seasons in Indy after being traded to the Colts by the Buccaneers.
During those three seasons, he was a dependable contributor on special teams.
In his first season with the Colts, he made 11 tackles while only playing on special teams.
His numbers dipped a bit during his second season with the team, but he put together the best season of his career in 2024.
While finally carving out a role on defense, Stuard was able to make 40 tackles, including two for a loss.
He's a great fit to replace Jalen Reeves-Maybin in the team's linebacker rotation and on special teams.
It's a role where Reeves-Maybin was able to earn himself Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors.
If Stuard can replicate that success, he'll probably have some nice offers waiting for him after this season that will make him happy he chose the Lions over those guarantees.
