NFL Mock Drafts are popular this time of year.

For the New Orleans Saints, there's a lot of varying thoughts on what they'll do with the picks. We looked at some of the players that were paired to them earlier this week from various sites with some thoughts.

A fresh mock draft from Athlon Sports' Luke Easterling is worth a look, focusing on what he did for the Saints. Here's his selections.

Luke Easterling 3-Round Saints Mock

  • 1st Round (9th) - Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
  • 2nd Round (40th) - Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky
  • 3rd Round (71st) - Landon Jackson, EDGE, Arkansas
  • 3rd Round (93rd) - Wyatt Milum, OL, West Virginia

Here's what he had to say on the McMillan pick.

There are some massive needs on defense for New Orleans, but if the board falls this way, they shouldn't reach to fill any of those while passing up an elite talent on the other side of the ball. McMillan's massive frame and well-rounded skill set have shades of a leaner Mike Evans, and if anyone knows how much of a challenge that kind of player is for opposing defenses, it's the Saints.

With Kellen Moore in charge, it's going to be interesting to see what type of thought process the Saints will have with the draft. There's so many needs the team has right now, and a lot of positions would make sense.

In particular, Tetairoa McMillan would be a fantastic add for the offense. He's one of the top options in the draft and he could be available when New Orleans gets to pick. The thought of McMillan, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed is quite appealing, to say the least.

Free agency does need to play out some, and yes, the Saints will have money to spend. More importantly, they have to figure out what to do with some of their own first. That will give us a better idea of where the team might go with their picks. So, the idea of taking a corner isn't a bad idea, but it does depend if Paulson Adebo is back. They'll definitely need an edge rusher and offensive lineman (preferably interior), but we wait to see what type of scheme they'll run too.
