New Orleans Saints achieve something they haven't done since their Super Bowl-winning season

The New Orleans Saints are officially no joke. The national media can no longer overlook them due to a weak opponent in Week 1. Will they? Maybe. That's on them, though.

The Saints are clearly a different team than they were in 2023 due to coaching adjustments and improvements in the trenches.

During their blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, their offense was unstoppable once again. The play-calling kept Dallas on their heels, and the playmakers for the Saints were incredible.

Saints make franchise history in win vs. Cowboys

The Saints open the season with back-to-back 40-point games for the 2nd time in franchise history. The other time they did it was in 2009.

That offense won the Super Bowl. The defense that accompanied it? It got stops in the red zone and created turnovers in crunch time.

So far in 2024, the Saints have done exactly that on defense as well.

Of course, it has been two games. The NFL season is a long, daunting path for every team. Regardless, you cannot script a better beginning of a season for New Orleans this year. Everything is working.

The pass game was explosive once again, with a deep TD throw to Rashid Shaheed. The run game gave the Cowboys fits throughout Sunday's clash, too. New Orleans got to the edge quicker than Dallas consistently. Inside, Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara clanged their way to chunk gains.

Klint Kubiak pushed all of the right buttons once again.

Kamara - the team's all-time leader in touchdowns - had four Sunday, three rushing (five yards, 12 yards and seven yards) and one receiving (a beautiful 57-yard screen pass). He had 20 carries for 115 yards and two receptions for 65 yards. Kamara is the only player in Saints history to score four touchdowns in a game twice and he passed 6,000 yards rushing. -- New Orleans Saints

The Saints' first-team offense had scored on 15 straight possessions before punting in the fourth quarter on Sunday in Dallas. That drive was basically used to run the clock, like multiple of them for New Orleans in the final quarter of Week 2's matchup.

The Saints will host the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday at home in the Caesars Superdome.
