New Orleans Saints' biggest dream comes true in latest 2025 NFL Draft with massive roster upgrades at positions of need

The New Orleans Saints won't be the easiest team to predict in the early rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. With that, they could make some really smart or questionable decisions, based on how their roster is currently built.

For Kellen Moore's first draft, we could see him try to add offensive pieces that will fit his system. Meanwhile, the defense has some aging starters and unknown in the secondary.

In a recent mock draft from A to Z Sports, the Saints made off like bandits with their two selections, based on their needs and value of the prospects.

Saints' picks in latest NFL 2-round mock draft

9) New Orleans Saints: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

New Orleans is a bit tough to project because they have filled some needs during free agency. McMillan is a perfect trio member for Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. At 6'4 and 220 pounds, he can be the large, downfield threat that the Saints need.

McMillan is a polarizing prospect projected to go anywhere between the top six picks or somewhere in the 20's during round one. His speed won't blow anyway away, but he's a smooth mover that can win jump ball catch opportunities down the field.

Every NFL offense that doesn't have a true X WR is looking for one. And in this year's draft, every team searching for it should have McMillan ranked high, if not at the top of their board. You can't teach a WR to have his elite measurables and incredible production go along with it, making him one of the top WRs in this year's draft class. His overall draft position probably comes down to the style of WR a team is targeting, but he should certainly hear his name called in the top half of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Why does this pick make tons of sense for the Saints? Well, McMillan profiles as a great trio member with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, neither of which are over 6 feet tall. They can win down the field with their burst and athleticism, while McMillan can give the long-term QB a new look target in the offense.

Not to mention, A.J. Brown, while not quite as large as McMillan, played that role quite well in Kellen Moore's offense a season ago.

With how the board fell, taking a weapon that can make the passing game much more deadly is certainly smart for the Saints. Don't overthink McMillan in this scenario, New Orleans.

40) New Orleans Saints: Shavon Revel Jr., CB, East Carolina

Revel Jr. is a player that many mock drafts have going in round one. He's got the size to play outside cornerback at the next level. His fluidity in coverage and knowledge of how to use space to his advantage pops on his film.

He did deal with some injuries during his college days, but there aren't many prospects, particularly DBs, who don't. Revel plays a physical game at cornerback, a trait that Brandon Staley may appreciate come draft time.

If he is developed properly, Revel could end up being the top overall cover cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft class. In a lot of ways, his game is eerily reminiscent of former Pro Bowl cornerback Antonio Cromartie. Revel can run with anyone, and his play strength and length can match up well against bigger wide receivers. For a man heavy team, there is Pro Bowl upside, which should make Revel a strong candidate to go in the first round despite the torn ACL. Some of the flashes he has are about as good as you will find.

Revel's biggest successes at ECU came in man coverage. We could see a bulk of zone played by Staley for New Orleans, but I do think Revel can make adjustments to that side of his game with the Saints' coaching staff.

His physical makeup and continuous effort will help him in the long run - regardless of scheme fit off the bat.

Not to mention, Staley loves to mix up the looks on the outside in his secondary to throw off quarterbacks and cause pressure or turnovers. Revel would be another chess piece in that game for the new coordinator and would help Alontae Taylor potentially play more in the slot, where he has had more success in the NFL so far.

We'll see how Kellen Moore trudges through his first draft, but these two picks would be smart considering their talent and the roster needs for the Saints as of now.
