Meetings, discussions, rumors. All of it is a part of the NFL Draft process on an annual basis. For the New Orleans Saints, their draft plan under first-year head coach Kellen Moore remains to be seen.
Could New Orleans attempt to find their successor to Derek Carr in round one or two of this year's class? It is certainly a possibility. Keep in mind that the Saints do have four picks in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft currently.
Saints meet with Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart
According to Nick Underhill, the Saints had dinner with Jaxson Dart last week. The team had coaches in attendance for his Pro Day as well. There's clear intrigue from New Orleans in the SEC product.
Kellen Moore was among the head coaches at the Ole Miss Pro Day. Dart has been in consistent communication with the Saints recently, showing how much they may value his time ahead of this year's draft.
If the Saints did not have their eye on Dart, along with some of the other QB prospects in this year's class, they would not take the time to meet with him and study his brain when it comes to his hopes and expectations at the next level.
Recent mock drafts
There has been little consensus when it comes to the Saints' selections in recent mock drafts. We've seen Dart be their pick at ninth overall - or even at 40th overall in some multi-round scenarios. In others, they pick a cornerback, wide receiver, or pass rusher.
Clearly, there's plenty of options for the Saints early in their draft, but Mel Kiper Jr. did send Dart to New Orleans in a recent mock draft.
Dart in the top ten is steep. He has upside concerns with limited arm strength, and Lane Kiffin's system at Ole Miss is not the easiest to project for the next level when it comes to pro prospects.
Regardless, New Orleans has the Rebels QB on their radar. That is clear, and the Saints have also had notable interest in Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward.
