Saints Prepare for Training Camp with Potential Defensive Boost:
As the New Orleans Saints gear up for training camp, set to commence on July 23rd, they find themselves in a favorable financial position with over $23 million in cap space. This substantial amount allows the organization to explore additional moves that could enhance their roster before the season kicks off.
The Saints are keenly aware that this cap flexibility provides an opportunity to make a significant signing, especially as they look to strengthen their defense. One name that has emerged as a potential target is former Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.
Earlier this offseason, Samuel visited the Saints, but a contract was not finalized at that time. His situation has since evolved, as he is recovering from neck surgery he underwent in April. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Samuel is scheduled for a follow-up check-up in early July, which could pave the way for him to sign with a new team shortly thereafter.
