The New Orleans Saints have a major need for a long-term franchise quarterback. It's also possible the team will have a need for a starting quarterback during the 2025 season.
Derek Carr's season is in jeopardy after a recent report that shared he's dealing with a shoulder issue that could end his 2025 season before it even begins.
To that end, the Saints have been expected to make a move for a quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft. They hold the No. 9 overall pick at this point in time, with names like Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart being heavily connected to them.
With new head coach Kellen Moore in town, the offense is expected to take a step in the right direction. Bringing in a young franchise quarterback for Moore to develop and build around would be a wise decision.
According to Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports, via Dov Kleiman on X, Dart is not expected to be available past New Orleans at No. 9.
"What I'm being told is that Jaxson Dart is not going to fall beyond that No. 9 pick and the Saints...that's the pick that Kellen Moore really likes," she said.
Dart has come on strong throughout the pre-draft process. His draft stock has risen dramatically to the point of being a potential top-10 pick.
Throughout the 2024 college football season at Ole Miss, Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while completing 69.3% of his passes. He also showed off his athleticism to the tune of 495 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Fans won't have to wait much longer to find out what the Saints do in the first round. The first round of the 2025 draft will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET tonight.
