When Kevin O'Connell was hired to be the new head coach of the Minnesota Vikings in 2022, he was brought in to change the culture of a locker room that had become engulfed in toxicity.
During his tenure with the Vikings, O'Connell has done a great job of easing the tension inside the team's facilities, and his approach to coaching is much more optimistic and positive than the person who previously held the job.
Minnesota fans have been able to get a pretty good idea of his coaching style from clips shared online of him interacting with players and delivering motivational post-game speeches after victories. However, a different side of O'Connell, and perhaps a refreshing one for some, was recently revealed to the public.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell shows he can get angry when needed in "Receiver"
On Wednesday, the entire new Netflix docu-series "Receiver" featuring Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson and others premiered. The content with Jefferson really doesn't begin until episode No. 2 of the show, and during this episode, we also get to see what O'Connell is like in the locker room after a tough Minnesota loss.
This post-game speech from O'Connell took place after the Vikings' Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Minnesota only lost by six points, and much of the defeat was due to the team turning the ball over four times.
While some might understandably interpret O'Connell's tone after the game as anger, it's more disappointment and frustration than anything else because he knows the Vikings were completely capable of leaving Philadelphia with a win that night.
So, for those who thought O'Connell was just a head coach who smiled and giggled all the time with his players and coaches, this clip should help erase those beliefs.
