New Update Suggests Steelers Are Ready To Make A Move For All-Pro WR Davante Adams

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a clear weakness on their roster at wide receiver. Behind George Pickens, there isn't anyone in the group for Pittsburgh that can be relied upon to produce. Even Pickens has struggled due to his tendency to mentally check-out of games if things aren't going his way. The trade deadline is quickly approaching for all 32 teams, and there is no question the Steelers need to made an addition or two at wide receiver if they plan on competing in the postseason.

There are a few interesting names at receiver around the NFL that may be available at the deadline. This includes players like DeAndre Hopkins and Darius Slayton, but Pittsburgh has their eyes set on a bigger name - Davante Adams. Adams has grown frustration during his time with the Las Vegas Raiders, and he has officially requested a trade from the organization. It was reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that the Steelers have extremely strong interest in the veteran wide receiver.

"The Steelers have strong interest in trading for the All-Pro receiver. The feeling among the people I've spoken to is Las Vegas has started with the Saints and Jets, in part because Adams is interested in playing there. But the longer this goes, perhaps the more things open up for a team such as Pittsburgh. Adams likely won't be traded until next week at the earliest."

It makes sense for Pittsburgh to be heavily involved in the trade talks for Adams. The organization was a major player in the never-ending Brandon Aiyuk-saga throughout the 2024 offseason. To be blunt - the organization is desperate for wide receiver help. Adams is the type of guy that is capable of seriously elevating the offense, and he could also serve as a quality mentor to Pickens.

Steelers Could Become Legitimate Landing Spot For Adams

It has been understood that Adams wants to play with one of his former quarterbacks - Derek Carr or Aaron Rodgers, who play for the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets, respectively. However, things have happened with those two organizations that could slow down trade talks between them and the Raiders.

The Jets just fired their head coach, and Rodgers doesn't necessarily look like himself. The offense is still trying to figure things out as they just changed play-callers. In New Orleans, Carr just suffered an injury during the team's Week 5 contest. He is expected to miss a couple of games. New Orleans already has a 2-3 record, and having to play two games with a backup quarterback isn't a good sign.

Adams wants to win, and things in New Orleans and New York seem a little unstable at the moment. This has given the Steelers time to throw their hat in the ring and get involved in trade discussions, General Manager Omar Khan has a bad taste in his mouth after the way the Aiyuk trade attempt unfolded, and he knows this is a position he needs to sure up. A trade can probably happen ahead of Pittsburgh's Week 7 matchup with the Jets.

The executive will probably be very aggressive in trying to land Adams, and hopefully rework the contract for the veteran receiver in order to keep him in Pittsburgh for the long haul.
