New Veteran Free Agent Quarterback Names Emerge for Browns

As the quarterback dominos continue to fall this NFL offseason, some teams are still left out in the cold.

And it's cold in Cleveland.

Former Browns quarterback Jameis Winston is off the board, signing a two-year, $8 million deal with the New York Giants. Winston was never really on the Browns' board after what they saw from him last season.

Winston played himself out of contention for the Browns' starting quarterback job by going 2-5 in starts and throwing 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Now he's New York's problem.

That leaves three. Three teams that still need a starting quarterback in 2025. The Steelers, Browns and Vikings (kind of).

And since Winston's signing in New York, new names are being suggested as possibilities for one or all of those final three.

While Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco remain in play, Ryan Tannehill and Carson Wentz have also both been linked to the Browns.

Then there's Kirk Cousins, who is still a possibility in a draft-day trade from the Falcons.

Rodgers is the big name and he continues to keep the Steelers on hold after being shut out by Minnesota. The Giants set a good example for the others by showing they're willing to move on from Rodgers in the midst of his inability to make a decision.

Other teams should follow suit.
