NFC South team could have a lot of interest in trading with the Lions for Hendon Hooker, here's what Detroit could get

We're a little over a week away from the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Detroit Lions may be in the market for a quarterback this year. The team already signed Kyle Allen during free agency, and they expect him to challenge for the QB2 spot. If they take another guy, that might prove to be another signal that the Lions feel things didn't work out with Hendon Hooker.

If that happens, there could be a team that could have some serious interest in trading Hooker. That team is the New Orleans Saints. At one point in time they had a ton of interest in Hooker. They met with him and talked with him "extensively" leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Saints now have a need for a quarterback, too. Derek Carr has a shoulder injury, and it may cause him to miss the entire 2025 season.

The team does have Jake Haner and Spencer Rattler, but neither had very good showings in 2024. There are thoughts that the Saints could look to take a rookie quarterback with the ninth pick, but with the Titans, Browns, Giants, Raiders, and Jets all being interested in quarterbacks ahead of New Orleans, they might not have a chance.

Even if they do, they could look at Hooker as someone who can come in have a shot to compete for a starting role.

If this were to happen, what could the Lions realistically get for Hooker? Here's the proposal:

Lions get: 184 pick in the sixth round
Saints get: Hendon Hooker

I know there will be a lot of Lions fans who feel like that is not nearly enough, but at the end of the day, the Lions are trading away a soon-to-be 28-year-old quarterback who only has one season under his belt, and that season didn't go so well.

We'll see what happens during the draft, but don't be surprised if Saints GM Mickey Loomis called Brad Holmes to chat about Hooker.
