The Philadelphia Eagles are headed to Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs following a 55-23 destruction of the Washington Commanders.
Star quarterback Jalen Hurts made NFL history with the most rushing touchdowns in the playoffs by adding three more to his record-setting total. Following the game he received praise from head coach Nick Sirianni, who doesn't think Hurts gets the credit he deserves.
“I think Jalen and I go through a lot of the same things in that aspect, which we can relate with to each other on that. All I know is all he does is win, and he puts us in a position to win. He's selfless; he doesn't really care how we win and he goes about his business every day. And I don't think that's talked about enough, about how well he's done at just leading the football team,” Sirianni said in a media appearance this week.
While it's all positive vibes for the Eagles heading into the Super Bowl, two star players were hit with significant fines for their actions against the Commanders.
Star wide receiver A.J. Brown received an $11,255 fine for unnecessary roughness while defensive lineman Jalen Carter received a $17,445 fine, per Eagles reporter Jeff McLane, for striking Tyler Biadasz in the head.
Philadelphia is hoping to avenge its Super Bowl LVII loss to the Chiefs two years ago when Patrick Mahomes and company escaped with a 38-35 victory.
Super Bowl LIX kicks off from the Superdome in New Orleans at 6:30 p.m. EST on Feb. 9 and will be broadcast on Fox.
