Nick Bosa won't take part in the Pro Bowl Games flag football contest this weekend, but the San Francisco 49ers star will get the chance to win some family bragging rights.
The 2022 Defensive Player of the Year was not listed on the roster for the flag football matchup between the AFC and NFC that caps off the Pro Bowl Games.
That is likely an announcement that will make the 49ers very happy, Bosa having dealt with oblique and knee injuries down the stretch of their disappointing 2024 season. Though the risk of injury in a flag football game is greatly reduced, the Niners will probably be glad to see Bosa rest.
He will still take part the skills competition, however. Bosa will feature in the relay race and the tug of war, the former seeing him go head-to-head with his older brother, Los Angeles Chargers star Joey Bosa.
Linebacker Fred Warner will attempt to help former teammate Sam Darnold in 'Passing The Test', answering trivia questions about Pro Bowlers as the ex-49ers quarterback attempts to hit a variety of moving targets.
George Kittle and Kyle Juszczyk will compete on one of the two NFC teams in the dodgeball tournament.
Both tight end Kittle and fullback Juszczyk will feature in the flag football game, potentially catching passes from a familiar face in Darnold, while Warner will play on the defensive side for the NFC.
Kittle, Juszczyk, Bosa and Warner were all part of the NFC team that prevailed in the inaugural Pro Bowl Games in 2022.
The NFC has won both flag football games since the NFL altered the format of the Pro Bowl following the 2021 season to introduce the week of skills contests in place of the traditional football game.
