NFL comes down hard on Nick Bosa for his postgame stunt supporting Donald Trump

But the 49ers' star defensive end has now paid the price for his decision to interrupt NBC's postgame interview with Brock Purdy and George Kittle by putting himself in shot with a 'Make America Great Again' hat visible.

Bosa avoided directly commenting on the stunt in his postgame press conference, but, with the election now in the rear-view mirror, the league has made its feelings known, issuing Bosa with a fine of $11,255.

The 2022 Defensive Player of the Year's punishment comes under Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 of the NFL rulebook.

That article states that "throughout the period on game-day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office".

Commenting on the prospect of a fine on Wednesday, Bosa said: "It was well worth it. Clearly the nation spoke and we got what we got."

Asked about election night, which saw Trump defeat Kamala Harris to earn a second term in the White House, Bosa replied: "It was fun. It was a good time, stayed up."

Bosa has paid the price for his actions, but he clearly won't be losing any sleep over it.
