The NFL attempted to rain on defensive tackle Milton Williams and rookie linebacker Jalyx Hunt's parade following Friday's celebration by handing them two ridiculous fines for unsportsmanlike conduct in their 40-22 Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hunt, the Eagles’ 2024 third-round pick, was fined $5,690 for a "violent gesture" (bow and arrow sack celebration) during the second quarter of the game.
No flag was thrown on the play at the time.
This is absurd considering former New Orleans Saints and current Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks is notorious for doing this celebration.
Meanwhile, Williams was flagged and fined $14,069 for dunking the football over the crossbar after his strip sack on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the fourth quarter.
Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was not fined for hitting Mahomes in the facemask that caused him to lose the ball in the first place.
The good news is that every player on the Eagles' roster received a $171,000 bonus for winning the game, so these fines are nothing compared to that.
The NFL did not fine a single Chiefs player.
