NFL Insider hints that Titans are running out of patience with Will Levis

We may be seeing Mason Rudolph pretty soon.

It's been a rough year for Will Levis. The Titans' second year quarterback has played pretty poorly so far – going into Week 5, he ranks 28th in total passing yards (604), 23rd in touchdown passes (4) and 29th in QB Rating. On top of that, he's made a number of high-leverage, late game mistakes that have played a major role in the Titans' underwhelming 1-3 start.

Titans to stick with Will Levis as starting quarterback despite early struggles, coach says | Fox News

Despite only being a year and half into his career, Levis' performance has created tons of speculation about his future in Tennessee. It's not uncommon to see guys drafted by former front offices have less of a leash, but any sort of move away from Levis would still be a bit of a surprise. But according to The Athletic's NFL Senior Insider Dianna Russini, Levis' time may as the Titans QB1 may be coming to an end sometime soon.

It's 'only a matter of time' before the Titans bench Will Levis for Mason Rudolph

First-year head coach Brian Callahan cleared up any chatter about a potential QB controversy after Mason Rudolph stepped in for an injured Will Levis and seemed to run Callahan’s offense effectively against Miami. Callahan says it’s Levis’ job, but a coach in their division shared: “It’s only a matter of time before Mason Rudolph takes over ... Callahan may be facing his first hard decision as a head coach before we even get to Halloween."

Not great! It is admittedly a little confusing how Russini mentions that there isn't really a QB controversy right now, but then goes on to point out how coaches are telling her that, actually, there is? If Levis is getting benched at any point it's a disaster, but if Levis gets benched before Halloween? Crisis. Do you know how dire things have to be for a coach to actively believe that Mason Rudolph gives the team a better chance to win? It's not like the Titans have some young, exciting young QB waiting in the wings – that was supposed to be Levis, and now we're already dealing with benching rumors. At least it's the Titans' bye week.
