There's no way the Philadelphia Eagles would do this, right? No way! Why are we surprised this is a conversation, though? It's the NFL Draft! Guess who was mentioned as a possible landing spot for the suddenly-free-falling Shedeur Sanders...
If you answered that question by stating Philly, give yourself a gold star. We've gone from discussions about Shedeur joining the New York Giants to hearing Philly makes sense now. How did this happen?
Nevermind... We know why this stuff happens, but we can't get past that first question... There's no way, right?
The Birds have a good thing going. Why create a circus? But, then again... Maybe that 'good thing' and the culture Philly has created provides the only avenue needed to take this type of gamble.
Owning six picks on the third day of the NFL Draft doesn't hurt either.
Tom Pelissero mentions the Eagles as a possible landing spot for Shedeur Sanders.
If you haven't been watching the NFL Draft, shame on you! We're teasing of course. We realize some of you are working and have other responsibilities. Here's what you've missed if you haven't tuned in.
The Eagles drafted Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba, but the biggest story of the first two nights is no one has drafted Shedeur Sanders yet.
Eagles-centered podcasts and social media began joking after Round 3 about the possibility of Philly drafting Shedeur on Day 3. No one thought much of it until an NFL insider said the same thing on NFL Network's draft kickoff show.
Tom Pelissero mentioned theories for why Sanders hasn't had his name called yet, but he ended his theory by mentioning the Philadelphia Eagles as a possible dark horse candidate to land the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner.
Don't take our word for it. Give this one a look for yourselves.
Strangely, this makes sense, sort of. The QB factory... Philly's infatuation with adding to the position, even when they had an established starter... Think about it... Similar theories are why Jalen Hurts landed on this roster in the first place.
As a matter of fact... Jalen is the main reason why the term 'QB Factory' was birthed.
Hurts isn't going anywhere. This is his team, but if there's any franchise that can add a Sanders and do so knowing there's no ensuing QB controversy, it's the one in Philly. Might the Eagles culture be what someone like Shedeur needs.
He isn't taking over this locker room, so in a sense, we can see where Pelissero is coming from (even if this idea seems dangerous)
Call us crazy, but we wouldn't do this, but we can see one way it happens. If for no other reason, the Birds could roll the dice, let him play during the preseason, and trade him to an interested team later.
Then again, maybe that's why no one ever hired us to be NFL general managers. Life is much more complicated thean the franchise mode on EA Sports' Madden NFL game.
