The NFL hit New York Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood with a $6,354 fine on Saturday, the league has announced. The reason is unnecessary roughness with use of the helmet.

The play in which it happened was in the first quarter of the Jets game against the New England Patriots last Sunday. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye ended up in the concussion protocol and missed the rest of the game.
While it's tough to see football players losing money like that for normal plays, at least it goes to a good cause. The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support legends in need.
This is the second time this season that the NFL has fined Jamien Sherwood. In week 3, also against the Patriots, he was punished with a $6,354 fine for a late hit on quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Now, New York Jets' players have been fined ten times in 2024.
Jets fines this season:
- Chuck Clark (week 2 - unnecessary roughness)
- CJ Mosley (week 2 - unnecessary roughness)
- Irvin Charles (week 3 - unnecessary roughness)
