The Dallas Cowboys defense simply cannot catch a break in 2024. Players that are not even on the field cannot stay off the grid when it comes to some sort of issue or punishment.
The most recent update regarding a young Cowboys defensive lineman is the latest example of the frustrating 2024 season for many of their defenders.
NFL suspends Sam Williams
According to Ian Rapoport, the NFL has suspended Cowboys defensive lineman Sam Williams for violating the league's personal conduct policy. It is a three-game suspension.
Williams is out for the 2024 season due to a torn ACL.
#Cowboys DE Sam Williams, who is out for the season with a torn ACL anyway, is serving a 3-week suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

The punishment from the league stems from Williams' reckless driving charges from 2023. The suspension went into effect ahead of Week 8.
Since he is not playing currently and resides on injured reserve, he simply will not be compensated like he normally would be over those three weeks. Normally, players on IR still receive compensation, even though they cannot play due to injury.
Accordingly, Williams will not have to miss three games next year when he returns from his torn ACL.
