It wasn't enough for the Washington Commanders to just make the playoffs; they went ahead and picked up a huge win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wildcard round. Next up, they hit the road again to take on the number one seed in the NFC, the Detroit Lions. Before they do, though, the NFL had some bad news to share with a Commanders starter.
NFL fines Commanders DL Dorace Armstrong Jr. for an illegal act from their Wildcard round win vs. the Buccaneers

The NFL announced that it is fining Commanders starting defensive lineman Dorace Armstrong Jr. $11,255.00. Armstrong was fined for grabbing Buccaneers running back Rachaad White in the third quarter. The play drew a 15-yard penalty during the game, but the NFL deemed the act "Unneccessary Roughness," so it also cost Armstrong $11,255.00.
17 fines are being handed out by the NFL from Wild Card Weekend. Armstrong's fine is tied for the sixth most expensive. This is Armstrong's first year with the Commanders, and he finished the regular season with five sacks, 39 total tackles, and seven tackles for loss. This week, he and the Commanders' defense will have the challenging task ahead of stopping the red-hot Lions offense. Let's hope he doesn't repeat the same action this week because you aren't going to beat a team like the Lions with back-breaking penalties.
