Nick Chubb Pens Emotional Goodbye Message to Browns

Nick Chubb has found a new home with the Houston Texans, but the beloved running back shared a heartfelt message for Browns fans following his departure from Cleveland.

Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb penned an emotional message following his departure.

Chubb spent seven seasons with the Browns, quietly establishing himself as one of the NFL’s most respected stars. A four-time Pro Bowler, Chubb’s relentless and powerful running style made him the heartbeat of Cleveland’s offense and a beloved franchise icon.

Unable to reach a deal on a reunion this offseason, Chubb signed a one-year contract with the Texans. He departs Cleveland on good terms and shared a heartfelt message reflecting on his time with the team that drafted him No. 35 overall in 2018.

“Seven years. That’s more than just time – it’s where I grew roots, found a home, and felt a love like nowhere else. Cleveland, you didn’t just embrace me; you became family,” Chubb said.

“To every fan who cheered, shouted, and believed — you gave me purpose. To this city, with its grit, heart, and unforgettable spirit: you showed me what true community feels like. To my teammates, only we know how hard we fought every day and night. Relentless effort; scratching and clawing, doing all we could to win games, not only for us, but for the city. You guys kept me going everyday and i will never forget my time with you in the building and on the field. I came here to play football, but I’m leaving with so much more- memories that’ll last a lifetime, friendships that changed me, and pride in calling this place home.”

Nick Chubb: Cleveland Deserves Winning Seasons

Chubb played a pivotal role in reshaping the Browns’ identity. He arrived in Cleveland following their winless 0-16 season and quickly became a catalyst for change, setting the tone with his work ethic.

During Chubb’s tenure, the Browns reached the postseason twice, including their first playoff win in over two decades. While he missed the second run due to a season-ending injury in Week 2, his presence and impact were felt throughout the locker room. Chubb still holds deep admiration for the city and hopes to see the Browns find success.

“This city deserves a winning season every year. It’s earned it. This city doesn’t quit
The people never stop believing. And my brothers in that locker room, will never stop fighting,” Chubb said. “Cleveland’s time is now… and not because they are owed anything, but because RESILIENCE ALWAYS WINS. Just like we preached every day in meetings,” Chubb said. “This isn’t goodbye to what we built; it’s a thank you. For the trust, the passion, and the moments that made me feel like I belonged here from day one. Cleveland, you’ll always have a piece of my heart. Until we meet again.”

Myles Garrett Responds to Nick Chubb’s Message

Chubb’s message quickly gained traction, drawing responses from teammates past and present, including Myles Garrett.

“A legend and our brother. Thank you,” Garrett commented.

Garrett revealed that he pushed for the Browns to re-sign Chubb, calling his departure an “emotional blow” to the locker room.

“I love Nick. I think a lot of the guys who are in this locker room still feel the same way as I do,” Garrett said. “It crushes to see him get injured, had to battle through, and then it happened again. So we want the very best for him. Happy to see him still able to play, still able to do his thing. Wanted to see him go back to being the player that he was and have a smile on his face, and continue to ball out.”

With Chubb gone, the Browns will rely on rookies Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson to help carry the load. Jerome Ford, who is entering his fourth season in Cleveland, will also be in the mix.
