The Tampa Bay Lighting routed the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-1 on Tuesday and Nikita Kucherov collected a goal and two assists.
In doing so, not only did the Russian superstar extend his point streak to six games, he passed the 100-point mark for the third consecutive campaign and for the fifth time in his career.
This feat officially names Kucherov to having achieved more 100-point seasons than any other Russian player in the history of the NHL, passing fellow countryman Alex Ovechkin.
Overall, he is now tied with Jaromir Jagr, who is No. 2 overall on the all-time points list, and becomes the 21st player to ever do so.
Following the game, however, Kucherov didn't express the brightest mood about the milestone while fielding questions in the postgame media scrum.
He became frustrated with a reporter who attempted asking him on how the Lightning can build on the win. Before the reporter completed asking his question, Kucherov interrupted him and gave a dismissive hand gesture.
"I'm barely talking here and you're like trying to speak ahead of me. Like what are you doing? Alright, he's suspended," Kucherov said as he turned away from the reporter.
The night featured a range of emotions for the 31-year old two-time Stanley Cup champion, who also lost a tooth by getting shoved into the Penguins goalie Alex Nedeljkovic.
Kucherov exited the game and returned to the ice later looking for his tooth during the T.V. timeout.
"I think he lost at least a part of the tooth. Later on he went back there looking, but I think the man with the shovel may have stolen the evidence already," Lightning color commentator Brian Engblom said.
