No Concerns For Jets Despite Middling Play From Tyron Smith

Tyron Smith has helped transform the New York Jets offensive line from a group considered one of the worst in the league to one of the most complete.

Jets Tackle Tyron Smith Still a Tackle of Few Words and Great Deeds

Even with him not playing exactly up to his standard to this point early in the year.

Smith gave up a couple of sacks in New York's 24-3 victory over the New England Patriots Thursday night. He's given up three through the team's first three contests of the 2024 season.

While Smith has not exactly been bad, he also hasn't been the All-Pro star that he was like with the Dallas Cowboys. Even if the Jets coaching staff isn't overly worried.

"No, he's fine. Tyron (Smith) looks great," Jets head coach Robert Saleh said. "He's moving people in the run game. He's protecting really well. A couple of plays got extended. From a drive standpoint, but no concern, he's rock solid."

New York needs Smith if nothing else for the team to provide some stability and excellence to the offensive line position. He's also been an excellent leader for young players like 11th overall pick Olu Fashanu.

The numbers may not show an elite player, but Smith has been excellently impactful for the Jets early in the season.
