The Aaron Rodgers era for the New York Jets has not lived up to the hype, that's for sure.
Rodgers hasn't been sharp for the Jets this season. The four-time MVP is completing 62.4 percent of his passes for 2,258 yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He admit this week that he's not playing up to his standard.
"I'm not playing as well as I would've liked to play, for sure," Rodgers told reporters. "The beauty in this game is it's a team game. The frustrating part is that if you're a great competitor, you hold yourself to a standard that's not unrealistic, and I haven't reached that standard this year."
Despite how poor he has played at times, Rodgers plans on suiting up next season. We're just not sure if he'll be under center for the Jets.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, there's "no guarantee" Rodgers will be in a Jets uniform for the 2025 season.
Rodgers has a $35 million option bonus for next season. His cap hit would only be $23.5 million. The real problem for the Jets is that his deal includes four void years. They'll essentially have him taking up part of their cap through the 2029 season.
If the Jets are tired of Rodgers' antics, they could just move on from this offseason and draft a quarterback. History hasn't been too kind to them though. Over the years, they have whiffed on various quarterback prospects, including Sam Darnold, Geno Smith and Zach Wilson.
Luckily for the Jets, they have time to decide if they want to stick with Rodgers for the 2025 season.
