Nolan Smith calls out Emmanuel Acho for ‘hate’ over Cowboys-Eagles take

It’s officially the NFL offseason following a dominant Philadelphia Eagles win in Super Bowl LIX. And with that comes talking season.

Nolan Smith calls out Emmanuel Acho for ‘hate’ over Cowboys-Eagles take

At least one Eagles player isn’t thrilled with what he’s hearing in certain offseason circles: linebacker Nolan Smith.

Smith quote-tweeted a segment from analyst Emmanuel Acho, claiming that the Dallas Cowboys are just one Philadelphia Eagles offseason away from winning the Super Bowl. Smith appeared to take that as disrespect to how hard his team’s push to the Super Bowl was.

“Bruh you got to be Top 2 hates and not two!!!” Smith wrote on Twitter. “It doesn’t cost nothing to show love and say ‘THEM BOYS DID THEIR THING’ !!!!!”

In any case, Acho’s original comments seemed relatively benign, though perhaps they do cheapen Philadelphia’s Super Bowl win just a touch.

Acho’s overarching point was that Dallas could be in the thick of Super Bowl contention with a busy offseason.

“The Cowboys are one Eagles offseason away from a Super Bowl,” Acho said. “They are one Eagles offseason away. It’s not easy. It’s not simple. It’s not. It’s not easy, at all, but that is what they are.

“They’re a running back away. Eagles offseason: Saquon Barkley. They’re a linebacker away. Eagles offseason: Zack Baun. They’re one offensive lineman away. Eagles offseason: Mekhi Becton. They’re a No. 2 wide receiver away. No Eagles offseason there, obviously they got Jahan Dotson, who contributed in the Super Bowl but didn’t do a ton during the course of the season. They’re a defensive tackle away. Jordan Davis or Jalen Carter.”

Acho did receive some pushback on his Eagles take from some of his cohosts, who laughed as he listed off all the positions Dallas needed to address.

Still, Acho stuck to his guns.

“The Cowboys are one Eagles offseason away from a Super Bowl,” Acho said. “Like that’s it. Now the difference is like Shady said, Howie Roseman is the mastermind.

“I think they have Super Bowl caliber players, but they are a running back, a defensive tackle, healthy linebacker play, an additional offensive lineman and a No. 2 wide receiver away from a Super Bowl, but that’s an Eagles offseason.”
