NY Jets provide concerning update on star RB Breece Hall's knee injury

The NY Jets practiced for the first time since their bye week on Wednesday as they prepare for their upcoming Week 13 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. The team might be without one of its best players, however.

Breece Hall

Star running back Breece Hall did not participate in Wednesday's practice and is apparently dealing with a knee injury. The injury occurred in the Jets' Week 11 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, which means Hall has had nearly two weeks to rehab.

That extra rest wasn't enough for him to return to the field on Wednesday, though, which is a cause for concern regarding his availability for Sunday's game. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich insisted the Jets were still "hopeful" he could play in Week 13, but his status remains up in the air.

Hall reportedly tweaked his knee versus the Colts but opted to remain in the game despite the injury. The third-year running back developed soreness in his knee shortly after the game and still isn't feeling right over 10 days later.

NY Jets provide concerning Breece Hall injury update

Hall's numbers have declined this season following a stellar performance in 2023. The former Iowa State star finished fourth among all NFL players in total scrimmage yards last season but hasn't been able to produce at the same rate this year.

Hall is averaging just 4.2 yards per carry and is on pace for 978 rushing yards and 621 receiving yards — still an impressive season, but not quite as efficient as the 4.8 yards per carry he averaged in 2023.

Regardless, Hall has been more productive in recent weeks after a slow start to the year. He's totaled 170 rushing yards and 16 catches for 120 receiving yards and a touchdown over the last three weeks.

The Jets' offense still runs through Hall despite his "down" year. He's touched the ball over 120 times more than any other non-quarterback on the roster. Hall remains the focal point of the offense.

Rookie running back Braelon Allen would be in line for a significant workload if Hall were unable to play on Sunday. Allen has cooled off significantly after a hot start, averaging just 2.8 yards per carry since Week 5.

The Jets could also give snaps to fellow rookie Isaiah Davis and 2023 fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda, who is the only player on the 53-man roster to be inactive for every game this season.

The Jets will continue to monitor Hall's health as the week progresses, but as of right now, there is genuine concern about his status for Week 13.
