My thoughts on the New York Jets’ 2024 schedule? The answer is simple.
It’s NFL schedule release season, and there’s a lot of conversation regarding what the New York Jets’ slate will look like. The teams have been set for months, but the placement throughout the fall is always a fun thing to look forward to. Historically, I’ve always loved playing a Week 1 home game at 1 p.m. As someone who attends every game, there is quite literally nothing better than the first 9 a.m. domestic beer at that tailgate.
I also used to love breaking down the specific stretches during the year. In 2014, the Jets played Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford, Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in a six-week window early on. I’d convince myself, “If the Jets could just make it to 3-3 during this run it would be great!” (They went 0-6.)
But I have changed this year. This Jets roster – when healthy – is the most talented I have seen in my lifetime. Yes, even over the 2010 team, in my opinion. Every game, the Jets have a guy under center who is better than the guy on the other sideline.
And that’s why this year, I’m living by one mantra as the schedule release draws near.
Any Team. Any Time. Any Place.
I don’t care if we are home, away, in London or playing in the middle of the ocean.
9 a.m.? Doesn’t matter.
1 p.m.? Doesn’t matter.
4:05 p.m.? Doesn’t matter.
8:15 p.m.? Doesn’t matter.
You want to schedule the Jets’ eight hardest games in a row to start the season? Do it.
You want to dig up Vince Lombardi and have him coach against us every game? Be my guest.
I’ll play the Bills 17 times a year against Josh Allen and their terrorist sympathizer head coach.
It’ll still be fun to see how the schedule plays out and map out some potential road trips. I’m not taking anything away from that. But I’ve never been more confident in saying, “Feed me any team,” because this is the Jets’ year.
The schedule also means nothing until games are played. Fans will remember that when the 2022 schedule came out, it was viewed as having a difficult start and a cakewalk finish. They proceeded to flip the script and start 7-4 before losing their final six.
No matter how the NFL deals the New York Jets’ hand next week … I’m splitting and doubling down.
