Ohio State Star Will Howard Projected to Land with Surprising NFC Team

The Ohio State Buckeyes have many star players from the 2024 national championship team set to make the jump to the NFL in the 2025 draft. One of those players is quarterback Will Howard, who transferred to Ohio State to play his final college season from Kansas State.

At the beginning of the year, there were questions about whether Howard could lead the Buckeyes to the promised land. He answered those questions and more.

Howard is not one of the most hyped up quarterbacks in the 2025 draft class. He is widely expected to be a third or fourth round pick.

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert recently offered an intriguing comparison for Howard. He believes that Joe Flacco is a reasonable comparison, although Howard has more athleticism.

Now, a new projection has him ending up with a surprising NFC franchise.

Ben Rolfe of Pro Football Network has released a new seven-round mock draft. In that mock draft, he projected that Howard would land with the New Orleans Saints at No. 131 overall in the fourth round.

Landing with the Saints would place Howard behind Derek Carr. He would also compete with Spencer Rattler, who was the No. 150 overall pick in the 2024 draft.

With Carr now 33 years old and entering the last two years of his contract with New Orleans, a chance to play could open up in the near future.

During the 2024 season, Howard showed off his full potential. He completed 73.1% of his pass attempts for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also showed off his ability to make plays on the ground with 226 yards and seven touchdowns.
