The 21-year-old's new tattoo reveals the release date of his upcoming Netflix docuseries.
All of Carlos Alcaraz’s tattoos have a personal meaning, so when he popped up in Indian Wells with some new ink, fans took notice.
A part of his post-championship ritual, the Spaniard gets a new tattoo to commemorate each of his major victories: He’s inked an Eiffel Tower for his 2024 Roland Garros title, a strawberry for his back-to-back Wimbledon wins, and the date “11.09.22” to mark his first Grand Slam title at the US Open.
When Alcaraz took the court at the BNP Paribas Open, eagle-eyed fans spotted some new ink right away: “23.04.25” featured on his right arm—sending the rumor mill flying.
Turns out it’s only temporary: It’s all part of the promo for his upcoming Netflix docuseries, “Carlos Alcaraz: My Way.” The 21-year-old took to social media on Monday to confirm the series is set to hit screens on April 23, just in time for the Madrid Open.
Netflix announced the docuseries, produced by Morena Films, almost a year ago, marking the streamer’s first big foray into tennis content since Break Point. That series featured Alcaraz and several of the tours’ top players, but was canceled after two seasons. Last year, it also hosted the “Netflix Slam” between Nadal and Alcaraz ahead of the BNP Paribas Open.
For his own series, the 21-year-old wants to show a “more personal side” to fans as cameras captured the ups and downs of his 2024 season—which included two Grand Slam victories, a runner-up finish at the Olympic Games and an emotional farewell for Spanish great Rafael Nadal.
"This will showcase a more personal side… what I experience during tournaments, how I organize my training sessions, everything I face professionally," Alcaraz said during a promotional event in Madrid.
"We will tell the story of Carlitos with a childhood dream of wanting to be No. 1 in the world and win Grand Slam titles… I liked the idea of sharing my personal story, being Carlitos, who aspires to be one of the best in history.”
Alcaraz is having “his way” on the court in Indian Wells too, as the two-time defending champion cruised into the fourth round without dropping a set—making it 14 match wins in a row in the California desert.
Wearing pieces from NikeCourt’s Spring Advantage collection in red and coral, the No. 2 seed swept past Quentin Halys 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round before taking down No. 27 seed Denis Shapovalov 6-2, 6-4 to book his spot in the second week of the ATP Masters 1000 event.
He will face the winner of No. 14 seed Grigor Dimitrov and Gael Monfils on Wednesday.
