The Green Bay Packers are preparing for a huge NFC North division clash against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon, and they will likely have to do it without their star cornerback Jaire Alexander.
Alexander has missed the last five games due to a knee injury he sustained against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. The Louisville product only played 10 snaps during their Week 11 victory against the Chicago Bears after their Bye Week before being shut down again.
Before his current knee injury, Alexander also missed two games early in the 2024 campaign due to a groin injury. Overall, the former no. 18 pick has played in seven games, registered two interceptions, and has an 86.9 passer rating when targeted.
Jaire Alexander was a limited participant at Thursday’s practice. However, head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t sound optimistic when he was asked Thursday about the cornerback’s chances of returning to action this week. If Alexander remains out, Carrington Valentine, Eric Stokes, and Keisean Nixon will be tasked with the huge responsibility of slowing down receivers Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson.
By the looks of it, Jaire Alexander will not play for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, prompting fans to accuse him of avoiding the Minnesota Vikings.
“PLEASE don’t dodge next week @JaireAlexander,”- wrote an avid Justin Jefferson fan.
“Don’t run from daddy this time @JaireAlexander. Your time has come 😈” – posted a JJ McCarthy fan page.
“I would just like to remind the masses that Jaire Alexander is not anywhere close to Justin Jefferson’s level, no reasonable person thinks he is, and Jaire has ducked Jefferson almost every time they’ve been set to play,”- chimed in another fan.
