An intriguing question has been asked and it’s one that Green Bay Packers fans are divided on. Knowing how well their running back performed last season, it seems unlikely that they’d rather draft someone else in fantasy football.
While it seems unlikely, it’s far from impossible. The Indianapolis Colts have a running back on their hands that Wisconsin fans are all-too familiar with. Ultimately, their decision seems up in the air.
Fans Forced to Pick Josh Jacobs or Jonathan Taylor in Latest Fantasy Football Poll
Looking at their numbers, Jonathan Taylor finished with more rushing yards last season. Not only did he finish with more yards, but he did so in three less games. With 4.7 yards per carry, he also finished higher than Josh Jacobs’ 4.4.
15 touchdowns gives Jacobs the clear advantage in that department. Again, fans are going to argue it’s not a fair comparison due to JT being held out of action. If there’s one thing to consider, it’s Jacobs effort in the postseason.
Entering his sixth-year in the league, Taylor has only played in one playoff game. The 2020 No. 41 overall pick made the playoffs in his rookie season. JT finished with 21 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Colts 27-24 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The 2019 No. 24 overall pick had quite a game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card. Jacobs finished with 18 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown. Along with that, he had three receptions for 40 yards.
In terms of pass-catching, Jacobs has a clear advantage. The 27-year-old has 1,790 receiving yards, though he did just record his first receiving touchdown in 2024. Regardless, that’s much more than JT’s 1,091 yards, though he’s only gone one season without a receiving touchdown.
Fans Sound Off With Their Selection
Looking at some of the first replies on the post, fans are already divided. Someone commented, “Imagine picking Taylor in 2025,” though someone else said, “JT has a way higher ceiling.”
Taylor’s 1,811 yards in 2021 surpass Jacobs career best of 1,653 in 2022. Keep in mind, 2021 is the lone year where Taylor played all 17 games. Jacobs has done it twice, 2022 and 2024.
The decision was extremely hard for this fan as they said, “These two will both finish as Top 4 RBs in fantasy.” While the Packers don’t run the ball nearly as much as the Colts, they have no choice but to ride a player who had a pair of three touchdown games last season.
“Jonathan Taylor for me,” someone else mentioned. “The packers want to pass the ball more and im sure they will with Love being more healthy and a round 1 and round 3 reciever added to the WR room. JT will be the focal point of the Colts offense and a true workhorse.”
Another fan was divided, “Taylor, only because I think he’s going to be the focus of the offense. QB situation doesn’t instill much confidence thus JT gets more tch’s than usual. Very hard choice after Jacobs performance in ’24.”
The health of Taylor is the only thing that has held back people from choosing him. There’s no doubt that Jacobs is in line for a massive 2025, as is Taylor, who had four straight 100+ yard games to end 2024.
