Packers Hint That 4th Year OL Is In Danger Of Losing Job To 1st Rounder

The Green Bay Packers saw something they had not seen – perhaps ever – when Matt LaFleur got very angry at current starting offensive tackle, Rasheed Walker, in practice after he got into a scrap post-play with defensive end, JJ Enagbare.

However, despite the fact that grudges tend to not be held after outbursts in training camp, it seems like things could get worse for Walker, after reports coming out camp reveal that former first round pick, Jordan Morgan is getting more and more reps at left tackle – where Walker is currently listed as the starter.

Matt Schneidman of The Athletic also reported on Wednesday that Adam Stenavich – the Packers’ offensive coordinator stated that the team would have multiple choices to go with “up front” on the offensive line – hinting at a possible change in starting personnel.

What Will The Packers’ Offensive Line Look Like In 2025?

At this point, it is anyone’s guess how the Packers’ offensive line will look at the start of week 1. Right now, there are three borderline certainties: Zach Tom – who just signed a 4 year, $80 million extension last week – at right tackle. Guard, Aaron Banks, who also signed a multi-year deal with the franchise worth $19.25 million/year, will take the LG position. And Elgton Jenkins will revert back to his original position with the team coming out of college, at center.

That leaves two spots – left tackle and right guard, up for grabs. At present, Rasheed Walker and Sean Rhyan are the respective incumbents in those positions, but that may not be the case in a month’s time. Both have contracts that expire at the end of the season – and whilst both have been good contributors on the line, it would not be surprising if the Packers are desirous of seeing one – or indeed both of their high-draft picks over the past couple of years take their spots.

Will Rasheed Walker Lose The Left Tackle Job To Jordan Morgan?

Jordan Morgan was selected in the first round of the 2024 draft, whilst guard/tackle Anthony Belton was selected in the second round of 2025’s.

Morgan in particular – being a higher draft pick and now one year into his NFL career – will in all likelihood become the starter at either guard or tackle in week 1, health provided. The preference for the team, one would imagine; given the difficulty and expense of acquiring a top level one; would be for Morgan to play at tackle and take over Walker’s role.

But if Walker out-plays him, or the more natural fit is at guard, then Morgan could well take over Rhyan’s spot – whom he split reps with last season – permanently.
