Packers insider hints that major Jaire Alexander news could drop soon

Buckle up.

It's here*. The news you've been waiting for all winter, some of the biggest news of the Packers' offseason is finally here.*

(*Potentially.)

For the last couple months, all eyes have been on the Jaire Alexander situation in Green Bay. The two sides are at the proverbial split in the road where it seems like maaaaaybe each would be better off without the other, but as of the first day of the new league year, nothing's happened yet.

That could change, though, and as soon as today. The suspense! According to ESPN's Packers insider Rob Demovsky, we may be close to a resolution. On Wednesday morning, Demovsky tweeted out some speculation that a decision is near, and went into a little detail on what makes him think that. It's probably the most interesting Packers tweet you'll read this morning? It certainly beats random Trey Hendrickson speculation or salary cap discussion.

It sure sounds like the Packers are about to make their Jaire Alexander decision

I guess I appreciate the Packers still holding out hope for a trade. As with anything in life, self-confidence is key. Keep trying, guys! I have absolutely no belief in a meaningful trade, but don't let me get in the way. Maybe they can get together with the Rams and figure out the world's saddest trade for Cooper Kupp.

You'll note, also, that neither of those options involve Alexander, you know, staying with the Packers. It never felt that realistic – especially after how this season ended – but you always hold out a little hope that things can figure themselves out nicely. If Demovsky, who's as plugged into the team's decision-making as anyone, isn't even considering the option that he'll stick around, that's enough for me to come to my peace with the idea that he's outta here.

So, who knows. (Besides Demovsky, and probably Alexander, and definitely the Packers.) W

e'll see what happens at 3pm today, the moment this blog becomes extremely outdated. But on the bright side, that leaves us with, like, six hours of pure, uncut speculation. And that's what the NFL offseason is truly about.
