Just when it appeared that the Packers and quarterback Jordan Love were gaining some momentum after his return from a knee injury suffered in Week 1, Love went down with another leg injury on Sunday against the Jaguars.
Love appeared to be struggling with his movement in the first half of the Packers' game in Jacksonville, but with 12:07 to play and Green Bay in possession of the ball, Love was back to pass in the shotgun and threw a short screen to running back Josh Jacobs.
As the play wrapped up, Love took a relatively innocuous and incidental bump from Jaguars end Travon Walker. But Love was shaken up on the play and needed to exit, with backup quartertback Malik Willis taking over for the third-down play.
Love fell to the turf after getting himself to the sideline.
The Packers reported that it was a groin injury for Love, and his return would be questionable.
At the time, the Packers led the game, 13-10, but on the ensuing punt, the Jaguars derove down the field for a go-ahead score.
This is not Willis' first time filling in for Love, of course. After Love suffered his knee injury in the opening-week loss to the Eagles in Sao Paolo, Willis was called into action. He closed out the final two plays against Philadelphia, then took over as the starter for the following two weeks.
The Packers, running a conersvative offense in those two games, managed two wins. Willis, for the season, threw for 324 yards with a 73.5% completion rate, and a 122.7 quarterback rating. He also rushed for 114 yards on 12 attempts.
