Packers' Matt LaFleur Sends 8-Word Message After 2025 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers' 2025 draft class is now complete. The rookies will take the field at rookie minicamp, scheduled for the first half of May, marking the first opportunity for Green Bay fans to see them in green and gold.

Green Bay addressed four needs heading into the 2025 draft: receiver, offensive line, defensive line, and cornerback. While the team filled these positions, it was surprising they selected a cornerback only in the seventh round. Nevertheless, this is a talented class with plenty of potential. These rookies will have opportunities to showcase their skills during training camp and the preseason, and some could even earn a starting role by Week 1.

In a post-draft one-on-one chat with Hall of Famer Larry McCarren, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur discussed the current state of Green Bay's roster heading into the 2025 season.

"There's going to be some very competitive battles," LaFleur said.

"I think it will help push us and bring the best out of everybody," he continued. "We have rookie minicamp coming up, and we're going to approach it a bit differently this year in terms of getting the rookies acclimated to our environment and how we do things. It’s going to be less on the field, more in the classroom, more walkthroughs — just preparing them for what's to come when they return for Phase 2."

The Packers are bracing for fierce competition on both sides of the ball. LaFleur has confirmed that Jordan Morgan and Rasheed Walker will compete for the starting left tackle position. Additionally, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden, and Romeo Doubs will all have the opportunity to claim the top receiver spot during camp. Defensively, Green Bay lacks a clear number-two edge rusher behind Rashan Gary, with Lukas Van Ness, Brenton Cox Jr., Barryn Sorrell, and Collin Oliver all vying for the role.

Competition brings out the best in any football player, and the Packers will need everyone performing at their highest level to make a return to the Super Bowl. With the right scheme in place, if the team can come together and play as one unit, they will be tough to stop.
