Packers Named as Possible Trade Partner for Raiders

With the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders have a chance to draft a top prospect. For much of the offseason, they were expected to take a quarterback before they traded for Geno Smith.

Now that they have a starting quarterback, the idea of trading down and stocking up more draft picks has to be appealing. Many mock drafts have the Raiders taking Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick but that's a steep price to pay for a running back.

If the Raiders don't like their other options, they will likely look to trade down.

ESPN's Bill Barnwell believes that's the best move Las Vegas can make.

"Unless they are in love with Shedeur Sanders and are in position to take him at No. 6, moving down and attempting to build through young players is the way to go," Barnwell wrote. "Carroll's early days in Seattle -- where the Seahawks benefited from having extra picks in each of his first three drafts -- are an example of how Las Vegas should be approaching its long-term vision with smart short-term decisions.:

Finding a trade down is easier said than done but Barnwell believes the Green Bay Packers could be a logical team to swap picks with.

"If the Packers think there's somebody like that in this draft, especially at wide receiver or edge rusher, they should give serious thought to taking a bigger swing by sacrificing some draft capital," he wrote.

The jump from No. 23 to No. 6 would be big and the Packers would likely need to give up quite a bit to make it happen. It may even take next year's first-round pick. For the Raiders, that should be appealing.
