Packers QB Jordan Love Announces Relieving Update on Injury Ahead of Eagles Game

The Green Bay Packers are preparing for an attempt to replicate the same success they had in the Wild Card round last season. As fans recall, Jordan Love led the Packers to a 9-8 record and the seventh seed in the NFC. Green Bay traveled for a matchup with the heavily favored 12-5 Dallas Cowboys, and shocked the world with a 48-32 victory that was more of blowout than the final score would make it seem.

This year, Love and the Packers finished 11-6, but due to the highly competitive nature of the NFC, especially in the NFC North, they finished as the seventh seed again. This time, they will go on the road to take on the 14-3 Philadelphia Eagles, who also defeated Green Bay in Week One.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was inactive for Philadelphia’s last two regular season games after sustaining a concussion against the Washington Commanders in Week 15. Not only has he not played, he did not practice at all until Wednesday.

When the Eagles released their injury report today, it was also revealed that Hurts is also dealing with a left finger injury:

Hurts’ availability for Sunday is still up in the air, but his return to practice on Wednesday is a good sign for Philadelphia.

Love, too, is coming off of an injury, though one not nearly as severe as a concussion. He was knocked out of the Packers’ loss to the Bears in the second quarter after taking a blow to the elbow.

Immediately following the play on which he got hurt, Love could not feel his throwing hand.

In an interview with Matt Schneidman of The Athletic on Wednesday, Love opened up (a very little bit) about the nature of his injury and how it is feeling. However, he shared enough for fans to be confident that he will be able to play against the Eagles on Sunday.

Schneidman: “[Did the] numbness go away in your hand?”

Love: “Yup.”

Schneidman: “How soon after the game ended?”

Love: “Pretty much the next day, I was pretty much feeling back to normal. The next morning.”

Schneidman: “[Did your] grip on the ball feel fine today?”

Love: “Yup.”

Schneidman: “Funny bone?”

Love: “Yup.”

Schneidman: “Nothing funny about it.”

Love: “No. Definitely not.”

Schneidman: “You playing Sunday?”

Love: “We’ll see. Yeah. I’m hopeful.”

Schneidman: “Feeling back fully, or close?”

Love: “Yes.”

Schneidman: “Why limited [in practice]?”

Love: “Just based on my hand. Getting back to it.”

Schneidman: “If feeling’s back, does it still hurt?”

Love: “Yeah, it’s more my elbow. Recovering that.”

Schneidman: “Soreness?”

Love: “Yes.”

Schneidman: “Hurt when you throw? Feel it?”

Love: “Yeah.”

As one can tell from this exchange, the Packers quarterback is still feeling some soreness in his elbow, but does not believe that it will prevent him from playing on Sunday.
