Jacobs joins a talented offense with Jordan Love at the helm. The Packers also have young weapons on offense, including Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Bo Melton, and Dontayvion Wicks. Plus, Green Bay has talented tight ends Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft.

The Packers have a quality offensive line, making this an elite offensive unit.

They also have a talented defense, making them a true contender in the NFC.

Jacobs has been a successful back for the Las Vegas Raiders and should be an impactful addition. In 2022, the 26-year-old had a phenomenal season, earning All-Pro First Team Honors. In that season, Jacobs rushed for a league-leading 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Jacobs is poised for a great season under a quality offensive line and a bright offensive coach in Matt LaFleur.

With that said, let’s dive into what strange NFL record Jacobs is closing in on.

Jacobs closing in on this NFL record

Jacobs is five receptions away from owning the record for most receptions without a receiving touchdown.

He has hauled in 197 catches in his career for 1,488 yards but has yet to find the end zone as a receiver.

Jacobs could be featured more out of the backfield in LaFleur’s offense. Their previous star running back, Aaron Jones, was featured in the rushing and receiving game.

Jacobs could also be an impactful leader for the young offense.

The star running back stated (via NFL.com), “I’m one of the oldest guys on the team. I don’t take that really lightly. Coming in and you’re seeing these guys, especially these young receivers on the cusp of being a players in this league, and being the face and being in a household staple, and being able to help guide them and teach them little things about what I do or what I see to help them elevate their game to the next level. I think that’s a part of the reason why they brought me in here.”

Jacobs also wants to establish a legacy with his time in Green Bay.

“I can honestly say that as I’m getting older and I’m playing longer, I have a real goal of legacy,” Jacobs said. “I think that’s a big thing – wanting to play in important games, play in the playoffs, make a deep run and, you know, play in that game if we get there. That’s big for me. I think that’s the most important thing.”

Josh Jacobs could be a true difference-maker for the Packers this season and help them be a Super Bowl contender. While he could set the record for most receptions without a receiving touchdown, his focus will be on winning with the historic Packers franchise.
