Patrick Mahomes Reacts To Alex Rodriguez’s Admission Before Super Bowl LIX

Mahomes has led the Chiefs to five Super Bowls in the past six seasons, winning Kansas City three Lombardi Trophies in the process. Safe to say, the former Texas Tech quarterback has solidified himself as one of the best in the NFL.

But Mahomes wasn't always planning on playing football. In fact, his first true love was baseball. His father, Pat, was an MLB pitcher, and he pitched in high school as well. Mahomes was even drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2024.

Former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez has been around Mahomes since he was young. And even he tried to convince the quarterback to play baseball.

On Monday, ahead of the Super Bowl, Rodriguez admitted that he is glad Mahomes didn't listen to him in a long Instagram post to the Chiefs star. The post included a photo of a young Mahomes alongside "A-Rod" and a couple of videos.

"I’m so glad @patrickmahomes didn’t listen to me! But in all seriousness, this story still gives me goosebumps. From watching Pat as a little kid at batting practice to seeing him go for the 3-peat on Sunday. It’s been incredible to see watch his journey and see him grow into one of the best athletes in a generation. Good luck out this weekend Pat!"

Mahomes reacted to Rodriguez's admission by reposting it to his story and commenting, "."

Rodriguez became one of the best baseball players in MLB history. The former shortstop made 14 All-Stars, won three AL MVPs and helped bring the Yankees a World Series win in 2009.

Mahomes and the Chiefs will take on Barkley and the Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday in New Orleans, Louisiana.
